Duinlodge - 6 persons

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this accommodation at all. We paid just under €1,000 for 4 nights with 3 children. We found the lodge to be unbelievably dirty. There was a thick layer of dust everywhere and dust bunnies under the beds. There were clothes and trash left behind by the previous guests in the closets, and uninvited guests—ants—that were crawling all over the living room and throughout the entire property. After we complained immediately, the cleaning crew was sent over. However, even after we showed them the appalling conditions, they didn’t really see fit to clean it up. The houses are incredibly small and have thin walls. Even a normal conversation can be heard throughout the entire house through the walls. The mattresses are a real nightmare—you can feel every single “spring” in your back—and again, nothing was done about it. The loft bed is suitable for a maximum of one person to sleep on the bottom level, as there isn’t even a support structure up top. In this “children’s room,” you can barely turn around, and it’s more like a storage closet. We were also disappointed by the opening hours of the swimming pool, the playroom (which you can only enter when the restaurant is open), and the restaurant itself. Contrary to the opening hours listed on the website (10 a.m.–10 p.m.), all three were only open from 10 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. A baker who’s supposed to come by daily didn’t show up either. At the bakery, you could buy freshly baked rolls starting at 9:00 a.m. for a lot of money. But even there, if you came as a group of four, there were no rolls left to buy. The amenities were very sparse; for a house meant for 6 people, providing only 6 plates, forks, and knives, etc., is really not enough. All in all, it was unfortunately very disappointing for us. We’re really very easygoing and don’t have high expectations for accommodations, but we’ve never experienced anything like this before.

I’m not giving it 3 stars because this is our first time staying at a vacation park. So we don’t know if it’s good or not.
A minor downside regarding the cleanliness of the mattresses. We would have preferred if there hadn’t been any small bits of dirt on them. But since we were given a set of clean sheets, we shook out the mattresses first and put the sheets on afterward.
A minor downside regarding the sheets: although they were clean, some still had stains that hadn’t been removed.
A minor downside regarding the kitchen appliances, which are quite old. Like the toaster, which doesn’t inspire confidence.
A minor overall downside regarding the grounds, which aren’t really well-maintained (unmowed lawn, sunken patio tiles, PVC garden chairs that have seen better days).
A minor downside regarding the TV channels (only Dutch and German; very little English and nothing in French).
A minor downside regarding the French language… you need to speak at least some English.

But otherwise, overall, it’s in a great location. Everyone is polite, well-mannered, and welcoming. Very few, if any, non-EU foreigners.

The restaurant is very good. Expect to spend €100 for 2 adults and 2 children. Great decor.

The pool is okay and clean.

At first glance, it seems clean. However, the dishes in the cottage are dirty. There were clothes hanging in the cottage (belonging to a man and a woman). According to the receptionist, these belonged to the owner? Also, the dishwasher is broken. In addition, the pool remained closed the entire time.
